Discussion 2 Disease Prevention in Health Plans

In preparing for this discussion, read Chapter 13 of the course text. For your initial post address the following steps:

·  Step 1. Research a prevention program from a health plan. (You may use your own health insurance plan for your response.)

·  Step 2. Criticize the selected health plan prevention program using TABLE 13-1 Components of a Strong Health Plan Prevention Program as the guideline.

·  Step 3. Propose two recommendations for improving the weaknesses of the selected program.

Your initial post should be at least 300 words. Support your response with a minimum of two credible sources that were published in the last five years.

It is my belief that the rising cost of health care can be attributed to many factors. As the first article clearly states that, “economic loss–such as wage loss, health care costs, and replacing services the injured patients (Darling, 2005).”

I also think that the rising cost is greatly affected by the rapid growth oftechnology in health care and the advancement of medical research to advance the health of people.

Between the writing of the first article and the writing of the second, the health of thousands of Americans has decreased tremendously. The increase of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses are in turn increasing the cost of healthcare.
